Digital tachograph
The tachograph registers the routes and vehicle speed for two drivers and automatically warns them if the permissible driving time is about to be exceeded. The recorded data can be printed via an integrated printer or downloaded with the download interface. In accordance with EC directive 3820/85, a tachograph is mandatory for the commercial use of vehicles with a gross train weight exceeding 3.5 tonnes. All vehicles can be retrofitted with a tachograph. A provision for the retrofitting is also available.

Shiftmatic
This automated manual gearbox offers the comfort of an automatic gearbox, but is the significantly more favourable version regarding fuel consumption. Always on board: the hill holder, which makes driving on an uphill incline as easy as child’s play. Shiftmatic is available for the 80 kW* and 100 kW engine.*

Final drive ratios
The choice of final drive ratio determines whether your Crafter is optimally aligned to suit its intended purpose. Those who frequently travel on motorways or dual carriageways are bound to have different requirements than a person who drives on mountainous terrain. The Crafter is therefore available with a choice of five final drive ratios ranging from 3.923:1 to 5.1:1. Higher ratios offer better pulling-power for driving uphill or when towing a trailer while smaller ratios lower the rotation speed of the engine, which leads to a reduction in fuel consumption. Please refer to the technical data for information on the final drive ratios available for the different engine types. Thanks to the wide range of options, you are sure to find the ideal ratio for your Crafter.

Engine start-stop system
Once the driver brings the vehicle to a stop, switches to neutral and releases the clutch, the activated start-stop system automatically turns the engine off. A corresponding yellow start-stop signal lights up on the instrument panel. It starts the engine back up when the driver applies pressure to the clutch again. The start-stop system reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Start-stop package
This comprises the fuel and cost saving engine start-stop system, a tyre pressure monitoring display that lights up when the tyre pressure drops, cruise control to set and automatically maintain the desired speed, and a seat belt warning so that your journey is not only fuel-efficient, but safe, too.

Auxiliary air heater (2 kW/3.5 kW)
Equipped with a timer and air vents in the load/passenger compartment, the auxiliary air heater has an output of 3.5 kW for the Delivery Van and Kombi, and 2 kW for the Dropside Van with double cab. The interior is heated up very quickly via recirculated air and a separate fan. The auxiliary air heater is ideal for vehicles that are stationary for long periods such as building site vehicles, hotel shuttles, etc. The vents are in the load/passenger compartment on the Delivery Van and Kombi. On the Dropside Van with double cab, air flows from the seat base in the second row footwell. The temperature and switch-on times can be programmed via a timer. The maximum heating period that can be selected is 120 minutes.

Supplementary water heater (5 kW)
This additional heater, which runs on diesel fuel, supports the vehicle’s heating system when the engine is running in order to reach higher temperatures faster. In addition, the optional auxiliary heater function of this water heater enables the vehicle to be pre-heated for a period of 60 minutes prior to starting your journey. A radio wave remote control is also available upon demand so that you can conveniently switch the auxiliary heater on or off from the comfort of your home or office.

Supplementary water heater (10 kW)
Heat output can be increased to 10 kW through a second, supplementary heater which runs on diesel fuel. This facilitates rapid heating of the load/passenger compartment even at very low outside temperatures. The supplementary water heater is ideal when combined with the options of a floor-mounted air duct and second heat exchanger. One of the two heaters can be operated as an auxiliary heater (heat output of 5 kW) when the engine is switched off. The maximum pre-heating time is 60 minutes and can be programmed via the instrument cluster or multi-function steering wheel.

Auxiliary air heater with supplementary water heater (5 kW)
The fuel-powered auxiliary air heater with timer heats the air flowing into the vehicle directly and can heat up the load/passenger compartment very quickly via the air vents. In addition to the heating comfort of the auxiliary heater, a supplementary water heater supports the vehicle’s heating system when the engine is running to ensure comfortable heating of the interior during the journey. This heating system is available with radio wave remote control as an option for the Delivery Van and Kombi.

Second heat exchanger
In conjunction with the supplementary water heaters already described, it assures an optimal distribution of air current and therefore heat when the engine is running. The air vents are in the load/passenger compartment.

Supplementary electric air heater
This supplementary heater serves to optimise the heating comfort at the front of the vehicle, particularly for the front windscreen. It ensures fast heating during the cold start phase and significantly improved de-icing of the windows.

Footwell vents
The heated air is distributed in the passenger compartment via a floor-mounted air duct between the driver’s and the front passenger single seat with a footwell vent to offer ideal comfort to the first row of seats.
